Project Kaleidoscope recognized the struggles of non-profit organizations to recruit and maintain diverse boards. Project Kaleidoscope developed a questionnaire to study successfully-diverse non-profit boards in order to provide information on how they recruited and maintained diverse boards. The results of the questionnaire noted several methods for increasing minority participation on non-profit boards: the elimination of a requirement that all board members financially contribute or become a fund-raiser; the reservation of some board seats specifically for the purpose of creating and maintaining diversity; the use of current minority board members for the recruitment of other potential candidates; and the broadening of the minority pool resources in order to gain access to a broader cache of candidates.
