Saturday afternoon Emmy- and Peabody-award winning journalist David Brancaccio moderated a panel representing four remarkable initiatives in South Carolina that are providing innovative collaborative approaches to attack poverty-related ills at the community level. Each initiative featured a business and nonprofit leader involved in the project. Discussants were:

PULSE: Harris DeLoach, former CEO and current chairman, Sonoco and Rainey Knight, Consultant, South Carolina Education Oversight Committee and former Superintendent, Darlington County Schools

TransformSC: Jim Reynolds, CEO, Total Comfort Solutions and Karen Woodward, Superintendent, Lexington School District One

Spartanburg’s Northside Initiative: Bill Barnet, CEO of Barnet Development Corporation and Russell Booker, Superintendent, Spartanburg County School District Seven
