Fostering Greatness

DLI Group 2 formed a partnership with a local Greenville nonprofit, Fostering Great Ideas (FGI), to increase their pool of mentors by 25%, with a focus on increasing the diversity of mentors so that children in foster care can be mentored by someone with whom they can easily identify. Melanges

The group anticipates exciting and unique activities in the schools drawing on the creativity of the teachers and the resources of our team. Team members hope that music, art, literature, poetry, social studies, geography, sports, etc., will be encompassed in the “Diversity Awareness Week” and the team is committed to ensuring that these activities not cost the school anything as Team Melange will provide the resources to staff and promote the week as needed.

Pay It Forward

Building upon the success of two prior Capstone projects, Team Pay It Forward partnered with a program with program with proven results: Momentum Bike Clubs (MBC). MBC mission is to positively impact the development of young people through mentoring relationships by establishing bike clubs in underserved communities.

Family Promise

“It could happen to you.” Family Promise was created to establish and facilitate a community-wide network that would provide a safety net for families experiencing unforeseen emergencies. In partnership with GAIHN—the Greenville Area Interfaith Hospitality Network—the group sought to raise funds to support homeless families by providing emergency shelter, meals, and short-term housing to help families achieve self-sufficiency and self-fulfillment.

All In

Uniting with Project Hope Foundation, Team All In, will assist in securing the renovation for a new and critical addition to their mission. Project HOPE Foundation has access to a residential house located adjacent to the Hope Reach Clinic in Woodruff, SC. 

This house will serve as a “real life” setting for teaching important life skills to individuals that will promote independence and a sense of contribution to those with autism. Skills taught in this home include the processes involved in bed making, cooking, laundry, grooming and self-care.
