SC Public Montessori Programs

Since the inception of Montessori in South Carolina's public schools in 1995, Montessori has spread across the state to 44 public schools in 22 districts, with over 6500 students being served. Many different types of schools across the state have transitioned to either whole school or partial school Montessori models, including many Title One schools, charter schools, magnet schools, and traditional neighborhood schools. According to a national census recently taken by the National Center for Montessori in the Public Sector, South Carolina is ranked first in number of Montessori public school programs.
