Ferdinand von Prondzynski
President of Dublin City University

The Riley Institute at Furman, in partnership with Greenville Forward and the Greenville Chamber of Commerce, welcomed Professor Ferdinand von Prondzynski to Furman as part of the Vision 2025 Series. He spoke at a breakfast on Wednesday, March 14, 2007 at 8 a.m. in Younts Conference Center on Furman’s campus about “Fuelling the Celtic Tiger for the Next Decade”.

About Professor von Prondzynski

In July 2000, Professor von Prondzynski was appointed President of Dublin City University. Previously he was Professor of Law and Dean of the Law School, University of Hull, England (1990 1997), and Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences of the University of Hull (1997-2000). Professor von Prondzynski was also a Director of the British-American Business Council.

A graduate of Trinity College, Dublin (BA and LLB), and the University of Cambridge (PhD), Professor von Prondzynski has achieved international status as an authority on employment law and industrial relations. He is also an expert on European Union matters and on competition (antitrust) policy; he lectured at the School of Business Studies at Trinity College, Dublin before his appointment as Professor of Law at Hull; and worked for Dresdner Bank AG, Germany and Cadbury Schweppes Ltd.

Professor von Prondzynski grew up in Mullingar, County Westmeath, where his family moved when he was 7. He is married to Dr. Heather Ingman. Dr. Ingman is an author of both novels and academic texts and is a Lecturer in Literature at Trinity College. They have two sons, Sebastian, 17 and Theo, 15.
