2010: John K. Glenn

American Politics and Policy

Dr. John K. Glenn
Director of foreign policy at the U.S. Global Leadership Coalition (USGLC)

Ranked #1 in the United States in direct foreign investment, South Carolina is keenly affected by the future direction of U.S. global engagement.

Focusing on this significant issue, Dr. John K. Glenn, director of foreign policy at the U.S. Global Leadership Coalition (USGLC), met with a select group of Upstate leaders on May 26, 2010, at BMW Zentrum. Dr. Glenn presented a clear economic argument for increasing the international affairs budget in order to benefit all South Carolinians. While some participants noted that “something has to give” with the federal budget in order to do this, others suggested that perhaps we can start to “make the leap” that international development and diplomacy can decrease the budget needs for defense.

Supported by all seven living past secretaries of state, over 50 retired generals and admirals, and a conglomeration of over 400 non-profits and major corporations, the USGLC strongly believes America can become a better and safer place by elevating development and diplomacy alongside defense.
