Teachers of Government Application

Due to restrictions made necessary by the Covid-19 pandemic, the 2020 Riley Institute Teachers of Government program in Washington, DC set for July 17th to 24th, has been cancelled. Applications for the 2021 program Teachers of Government program will be made available early next year.

Greenville, SC and Washington, D.C.

Participants will spend the first day on Furman’s campus
participating in seminars on government and politics.

Information regarding your date of birth, and city and state of birth is required to obtain security clearance to sites in D.C.

Question 1: Please provide a brief description of the courses that you teach, the materials and methods you use and years of experience (please answer in text box below):

Question 2: In 1,000 words or less, write a description of why you want to participate in this program and how you plan to incorporate what you learn into the classroom. Include in your statement, a discussion of the school and community where you teach and any relevant information regarding past experience or innovative teaching (please answer in text box below).

After submitting your application online, you will need to send a letter of recommendation and references. Include a letter of recommendation from a person who can speak to your teaching experience and potential, preferably the principal of your school or an appropriate supervisor.

Also, please provide the names and phone numbers of two additional references.
