Baby Seeds Literacy Program

The Baby Seeds Literacy Program aspires to champion and support the connection between healthy early childhood “environmental” interactions and maximizing a child’s full intellectual potential. To achieve this aspiration, a firm foundation for future intellectual and emotional growth and development must be established. Such interactions with the child will be designed to occur prior to and immediately after the birth of the child.

The Triple Nickel Group

The Triple Nickel Group assembled a tool kit (click here for the download) for schools, which includes examples of techniques, concepts and strategies to assist educators, community leaders, and parents in creating a robust school environment that generates measurable improvements in school culture, working relationships and student success. This tool kit is designed to encourage educators to model the success of Dr.

GR8 Po$$ibiliT's

Team members of GR8 Po$$ibiliT’s have created the Midlands Diversity Academy, which is designed to bring together students representing diverse backgrounds, experiences, cultures, faiths, and perspectives to discuss their future, the barriers that obstruct their future, and the overall impact on the state of South Carolina if they do not graduate.  Through student engagement and interaction, participants will discuss the challenges that high school students face on a daily basis which represent potential barriers to graduation and the pursuit of post–secondary education.

Team Youth Success

DLI participants from Midlands Class V, Team Youth Success, designed and enlisted community members in implementing a program for upperclassmen at the RN Beck Learning Center, an alternative school that was established to provide a second chance for students who are expelled from their regular middle or high schools in Florence County District One. 

Embrace SC

Embrace SC has created a website that can be utilized as a tool for companies who are targeting and recruiting diverse candidates to the Midlands. Mindful of the negative perception that many people still have of South Carolina, the group’s website provides links to organizations, activities and relevant resources in the Midlands that cater to diverse individuals in the following categories:
