Dream School Team

Members of the Dream School Team created and implemented a program for St. Anthony of Padua Catholic School in Greenville, intended to raise public awareness of the school’s educational success. As a K-6 school located in a former mill neighborhood, St. Anthony’s serves a diverse population, 90% of whom are non-Catholic.  The school achieves remarkable results with limited resources from a 60-year-old building.

The Gladiators

Group members of The Gladiators sought a way to promote and encourage healthier nutrition among children in the Upstate.  Currently, the Greenville County School District has implemented a successful healthy nutrition program at AJ Whittenberg Elementary School.  The district is seeking to expand this program to ten additional schools for the 2011-12 school year.

Change Agents

The Change Agents sought a way to help individuals who have been disenfranchised by homelessness and/or mental illness.  Partnering with the Triune Mercy Center—an agency actively involved with this overlooked population—group members developed a landscaping project in conjunction with the existing Triune renovation.

Dream Builders

The Dream Builders Group launched an awareness campaign for the Martin Luther King Jr. National Memorial that encourages Greenvillians to donate to the national memorial foundation, volunteer for the dedication weekend events, and generate greater awareness for the memorial by telling others about it. Using a variety of media outlets from social media to digital billboards to hard copy leaflets, the team wanted to achieve greater awareness and to ensure that Greenville has a significant opportunity to share in this important, national initiative.

Diversity 101

Diversity 101 team members’ mission is to take the complex subject of diversity management and simplify the concept to a high school level. Partnering with the Bridge Builder Foundation (a youth leadership organization), Diversity 101 will host 50 young leaders at the Youth Leadership Summit (YLS) on August 27th, 2011. During YLS, Diversity 101 will introduce these young leaders to diversity management through fun student exercises, interactive case studies and open group discussion.
